Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks

The first line of this poem hits you at heart and makes you automatically imagine what she may bring up in the poem... "Abortions will no let you forget". Having an abortion can off set your mindset, Just a simple walk down the street can torment you. Seeing kids that you had but didnt have like the poet says "You remember the children you got that you did not get". Being a mother is a wonderful feeling as well as and important job, and because you were selfish to go along with an abortion you were never able to enjoy or experience the role. Gwendolyn Brooks brings up many aspects to look from after having an abortion. It seems as though she is a bit hurt or more so dissapointed on what she missed out on.
